Adult Education Students 18 years of age or older:
The Academic Skills Center at the Simi Valley Adult School provides students with the opportunity to progress at their own rate while concentrating on one or two subjects at one time during either day or evening hours. Students may enter the program at any time throughout the semester. The Academic Skills Center has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the California Department of Education. Adult Education Students 17 - 18 years of age:
  • Must be referred by home school administrator or counselor.
Concurrent Students attending another high school:
  • Obtain a concurrent referral form signed by home high school counselor.


GED Testing
Elective/GED Testing (3487)(022212): (General Education Development).

Ged Testing Information

  • 18 years of age or older (or within 60 days of 18th birthday)
  • Not a graduate of a U.S. high school
  • Photo identification must be presented at time of registration. Acceptable forms of ID are California driver’s license, California ID or passport with a current picture and proof of California residency.
  • Register in the Counseling Office (room 402)
  • There is no rescheduling or refunding of fees.
  • Fees must be paid in cash.
  • The fee for the GED is $130. However, for examinees who have taken the practice GED at the Simi Valley Adult School in the current fiscal year, the fee will be $90.
  • If you have a documented disability that could keep you from taking the GED tests in the way they are usually given, you might be entitled to receive testing accommodations. For information and directions on how to apply for accommodations, please contact the school’s GED Chief Examiner, Gloria Hasson, at (805) 579-6200 ext. 1617 before registering for the GED.
The practice GED pretest is strongly recommended. There is a $20 fee. Register for the pretest in the Counseling Office, Room 402. Remediation, if necessary, is included at no additional fee. For more information, call (805) 579-6200 ext. 1617.

GED Partial Test
Partial testing is for those who need to retake a portion of the GED. All those interested in partial testing must contact the school’s Chief Examiner, Gloria Hasson at (805) 579-6200 ext. 1617 for dates. GED Practice Test


GED/Basic Essay Writing
Don’t Freeze: Write Essays With Ease! This class provides strategies, techniques, and practical applications to help students prepare for the essay portion of the GED. It also focuses on the fundamental skills needed to write a basic 5-paragraph essay. Students will practice responding to essay prompts, brainstorming, planning, and pacing as they write an essay on an assigned topic.Click on schedule for test times, dates and fees.
